Hello SSHA Graduate Students,



We hope you are all doing well. Fall 2022 registration has begun!



To prepare for a successful fall semester, we recommend the following:

  *   Check your UC Merced email regularly
  *   Make note of the following important fall 2022 dates and deadlines (we will also add these to your calendars for ease)
  *   Review your specific graduate programs policies and procedures<https://ssha-grad.ucmerced.edu/graduate-programs> and check in with your faculty graduate advisor regarding matters such as your academic progress, courses to take, research, plans for examinations during the fall semester and graduation plans

Last day to add class online:  August 30, 2022

Last day to add class with instructor permission:  September 14, 2022

Last day to drop a class online: September 14, 2022

Last day to withdraw from a class:  November 2, 2022

**If you plan to take your Qualifying Examination for the Ph.D. the Application for the Qualifying Examination<https://graduatedivision.ucmerced.edu/sites/graduatedivision.ucmerced.edu/files/page/documents/application_for_qualifying_examination_0.pdf> must be submitted a minimum of thirty (30) days before the exam date.**



Last day to file for fall 2022 graduation:  September 15, 2022

Last day to file the Report on Final Examination for the Ph.D<https://graduatedivision.ucmerced.edu/sites/graduatedivision.ucmerced.edu/files/documents/report_on_final_exam_phd.pdf>. with Graduate Division:  December 16, 2022

Last day to file the Final Report on the Master Degree<https://graduatedivision.ucmerced.edu/sites/graduatedivision.ucmerced.edu/files/page/documents/finalreportmastersdegree-updated_-_copy_0.pdf> with Graduate Division:  December 16, 2022


If you plan to be a part-time student, on filing fee status, or are on fellowship you must be enrolled in units for fall 2022 semester.  Please refer to the Graduate Division Policies and Procedures Handbook AY 21-22<https://graduatedivision.ucmerced.edu/sites/graduatedivision.ucmerced.edu/files/page/documents/graduate_policies_and_procedures_handbook_approved_4.29.21.pdf>.

If you have an academic student employee appointment (TA, GSR, TF, TF-IOR), a condition of your employment is to be enrolled in 12 units. Please review Graduate Division's policies for enrollment and employment<https://graduatedivision.ucmerced.edu/sites/graduatedivision.ucmerced.edu/files/page/documents/graduate_policies_and_procedures_handbook_approved_4.29.21.pdf>.

If you need an independent study course (research units) , all CRN requests are processed directly by the Office of the Registrar. Please submit your request via their online form-Independent Study<http://dbsforms.ucmerced.edu/forms/student-independent-study>.
Once approved, the Office of the Registrar will email you a CRN to enroll in the course.

If a request has been submitted and you have not received a response, follow up with the instructor of record.

If you do not plan to return to UC Merced or if you plan to be on an Education Leave, complete and submit the online form Leaving UC Merced<http://dbsforms.ucmerced.edu/forms/student-independent-study>.
