Looking to improve your GPA for medical school or finish premed prerequisites through an informal DIY post-bacc?
Join us to hear from Maheen Akhter, a second-year medical student at Central Michigan University College of Medicine, who will explain what a DIY post-bacc is, why students should complete one, and how to get started. Students will leave with a new perspective on how to approach and select courses to take during their DIY post-bacc to obtain their goal GPA, learn how to register for courses through a CSU system via Open University Program and lastly, learn to calculate their current GPA to decide how many credits are needed to obtain goal GPA

The event may interest students seeking to do an informal post-bacc to boost their GPA after obtaining their bachelor’s degree. All students regardless of current time point are encouraged to register

Guest Speaker: Maheen Akhter is a second-year medical student at Central Michigan University College of Medicine. She earned her bachelor's in human biology and health care studies at USC, then worked in clinical research at UCSF, and then completed a DIY post-bacc at UC Berkeley prior to entering medical school. Maheen, a Bay Area native, is passionate about helping rural and underserved populations in the Central Coast and Central Valley, as well as mentoring premeds (particularly post-bacc and first-gen applicants). She hopes to practice plastic and reconstructive surgery in the future.
