[Ucwsfiscal] AB 746: LAEP Eligibility changes to Underrepresented

Good afternoon Apri,

Thank you for the opportunity to review this. We see this as a
positive move. The proposed legislation would provide additional
flexibilities for outreach and ultimately increase the number of LAEP
eligible students.

It looks like the new law is proposing that CSAC will define the criteria
for students from an* underrepresented background*.  Is this conflicting
with the request to review proposed LAEP regulations that we received on
January 25? As you recall, CSAC wants to incorporate a lot of detail into
the regulations instead of housing those details in the handbook.  I'm
bringing this up because in the proposed LAEP regulations that CSAC had us
review, it included the definition of * underrepresented background*--see
below.  Was that approved?  or, is AB746 entirely separate?
