Are you interesting in contributing to the protection of California's
natural resources? Come join CDFW and help us expand our statewide
ecological data network! Under close supervision of project managers in the
Science Institute and Wildlife Branch, the incumbent performs a variety of
duties supporting installation, management, and data analysis of climate
and biodiversity sensors for the CDFW Climate-Biodiversity Sentinel Site
network throughout California. The program aims to assess the potential
impacts of climate change on biodiversity in support of the Department’s
mission. Duties include collecting field data via climate sensors, camera
traps and acoustic recorders; supporting botanical surveys; helping to
deploy Motus towers, which are used to track migratory wildlife; processing
data using newly developed artificial intelligence tools and online
platforms; mapping habitat features with ArcGIS and GoogleEarth; and
writing management reports and scientific publications.
