Dear QSB members,
In the past month I have had the results of three surveys about QSB
returned to me. All of them indicate a desire for greater faculty
engagement, more opportunities for students and faculty to network, and
more opportunities for students to network with each other.

So here is my question: What sorts of events/ networking opportunities do
you want? One bold student said in one of the surveys "More karaoke".
Please let me know if more of you want more karaoke. Do students want
faculty panels to discuss things with them like careers and qualifying
exams? Do people want to go hiking together? Pot-luck dinners? More
multi-lab journal clubs? More student led things like Radio Bio and the
computational biology student conference that is coming up? More crepe
parties? Feel free to come up with your own ideas and let me know. After
getting these ideas, we can poll people about more specific things and how
many would actually show up and how often to do them etc. I just need to
know the general directions that people want these things to go in.

Please respond and let me know the sorts of things that you would like to
have happen and that you would actually show up to. We don't have a whole
lot of money so please keep that in mind. Depending on how often these
things happen the upper limit on the budget per event is probable a few
hundred dollars or less.

Thanks,
Miriam
