[QSB-grads] Tell your Research Story for Research Week!

Dear UC Merced Graduate Students,

RadioBio GradSTORY is a Research Week (March 5–9) event intended to 1) give graduate students a chance to talk about their research, 2) give undergraduates the opportunity to learn about research, and 3) serve as a recruitment opportunity for graduate students who need help! On Wednesday, March 7th, and Thursday, March 8th, RadioBio will be hosting casual interviews with graduate students in the dining commons. RadioBio is a podcast where UC Merced biology graduate students talk with scientists about the work they do concerning biological systems, from molecules to ecosystems.

What exactly are these “interviews”?

  *   Interviews are 10 minutes with questions
  *   We are interviewing people about their path to science and what they do at UC Merced
  *   The target audience is undergraduate dining guests
  *   A short question session will be facilitated at the end for students in the room
  *   You can make one slide to be displayed on a screen behind you
  *   If you are recruiting, make sure to announce it!

Who is the right person for this?

  *   UC Merced graduate student conducting biological research

Why should I participate?

  *   Develop yourself as a science communicator
  *   Students will be inspired by your story
  *   Want to practice public speaking
  *   Looking for undergraduates (optional)
