You are most likely receiving this email because you are the chair of a
graduate group at UC Merced.


I am writing to the graduate group chairs to ask each of you to please
forward this message to anyone in your department (faculty, graduate
students, staff, or postdocs) who may be interested in data science or data
management.


My name is Katie -- I was hired about two weeks ago as a Data Curation
specialist at UC Merced. My job involves meeting with faculty and graduate
students who are creating data management plans, or who need data or R
help. I am also in charge of organizing (and sometimes hosting) workshops
on campus related to data management and/or software like R.


One of my first goals is to curate a mailing list at UC Merced consisting
of individuals who are interested in data science. To that end, I have
created a ~5 minute survey. The survey assesses your interest in upcoming
Carpentries workshops (https://carpentries.org/) at UC Merced, and allows
you to request inclusion in future emails about data science-related
activities.
