Critical Project Review Meeting with grant recipient, The Regents of the University of California, Merced (EPC-19-060).

This EPIC grant-supported research will define the role for long-duration storage in meeting California’s zero carbon energy goals. The project will compare results from two capacity expansion models (RESOLVE and SWITCH) to model grid scenarios and analyze the costs and deployment scale of relevant technologies, while incorporating feedback from public workshops and interviews with industry experts. The critical project review meeting will discuss the lessons learned from the project’s introductory public workshop held in December 2020, progression in developing models and data inputs, and scoping of the next public workshop expected in July 2021
