NATIONAL HEALTH CORPS

The National Health Corps (NHC)<https://www.nationalhealthcorps.org/> is a program that connects people with health and wellness education, benefits, and services. The NHC provides primary care medical, dental, and behavioral health services. It also provides community health services, including outreach and education and develops future health leaders.

What does NHC do:
*        Provides services: The NHC connects people with health and wellness services, education, and benefits.
*        Develops leaders: The NHC trains and places emerging leaders in organizations that need resources.
*        Fosters healthy communities: The NHC works to improve health equity and reduce health disparities.

        *   Central California<https://www.nationalhealthcorps.org/site/central-california> communities have been designated as health professional shortage areas by the federal government, and health centers struggle to continue to find health professionals at all levels that are both linguistically and culturally competent. NHC Central California members will address this workforce shortage and the public health disparities encountered throughout the area by serving the growing needs of its diverse communities.  With host sites located in Sacramento, the State Capitol, and throughout Central California, from Sutter County to Kern County the members will serve their time at a participating federally qualified health center where they will address the needs of the communities by providing outreach and education while gaining a meaningful experience for their future.


  *   National Health Corps - Community Health Fellowship
     *   The Community Health Fellowship<https://www.nationalhealthcorps.org/about/chf> is a grass roots community health service program that trains local residents in Greater Philadelphia, Northeast Pennsylvania, Delaware as community health workers, digital navigators, and/or medical interpreters who are committed to addressing the unmet health needs of underserved populations, and developing grass roots community health leaders.
