To those applying for 2009 admissions, if you would like to have your personal statement critiqued, please contact Dr. Elizabeth Boretz in the Student Advising and Learning Center.  Dr. Boretz works very carefully with students applying to prestigious scholarships, such as the Truman and Strauss Foundation scholarships and she has offered her services to students applying to professional schools as well.  It is highly recommended that you polish your personal statements rigorously, as it is the first time you communicate with the admissions committees.
