Hi Sergio,

Like Merced, we also always meet the 7% requirement using library positions and outside agency positions that serve the community.

Best,
Jose

Hi Sergio,

We currently consider our library students as community service positions. Our library students and off-campus tutors usually meets our 7% requirement, except for last year's reporting that was short by a few hundred dollars so we will make sure to have enough library and tutor positions this year to hit our target.

Thanks,
Arvin

Hi everyone,

I hope this email finds you well. With the automatic waiver of the Federal Work-Study Community Service requirement no longer applicable with the upcoming 2024-25 academic year, we once again find ourselves challenged with expending at least seven percent (7%) of our respective FWS allocation in community service jobs. At the Irvine campus, we were fortunate to meet/exceed the requirement each year prior to the pandemic. However, it has been a challenge to reach the 7% requirement once again these past couple of academic years. To ensure we are capturing every possible position that would qualify as community service, could you share some examples of on-campus positions, or departments, that would fall into the community service category at your respective campus, where the earnings would be applied towards the 7% requirement? Perhaps we have similar positions at the Irvine campus that we overlooked. At Irvine, for example, we classify the student positions in our libraries and childcare facilities as community service positions. Any insight you can provide would be appreciated and could benefit the group as a whole. Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Thank you,

Sergio
