I hope this email finds you all well … I’m writing to share this Sustainability and DEIJ Advisory Council nomination form<https://forms.gle/9LcKrWSxMU2fCB7BA> <https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfYl0aUvxJnPEJZxNoBjHeyDOxOQ3wQIZU-rsjye-uVaZvxxA/viewform> to potentially interested stakeholders on our campus. The UC DEIJ Working Group is looking for students and faculty with an interest in climate and environmental justice and the intersection of justice, equity, diversity and inclusion with our sustainability programs and projects in the UC system. Similarly, we’re looking for staff in DEIJ-related roles on campus, including identity-based resource centers, who can bring that expertise to the advisory council.

The Sustainability and DEIJ WG that I co-chair began meeting monthly this fall and will be doing the work of implementing the commitments in the DEI Statement of UC Sustainability Offices and Staff<https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.ucop.edu/sustainability/_files/sustainability-staff-dei-statement.pdf&sa=D&source=editors&ust=1637692405862000&usg=AOvVaw253FKnBgz_pG9k3bJHwMWA> <https://www.ucop.edu/sustainability/_files/sustainability-staff-dei-statement.pdf>, but that working group seeks guidance and accountability from student, faculty, and staff stakeholders and experts. This Advisory Council will provide incredibly important feedback to the Working Group, so we are looking to cast as wide a net as possible.

Here are the basics:


  *   Council will meet quarterly
  *   Estimated time commitment is approximately 8 hours per year
  *   Council will help shape UC sustainability policy as well as system-wide sustainability programs and projects by centering equity and climate and environmental justice principles in all of that work
