Dear Sustainability colleagues,

Just a quick note to emphasize that this year’s Senate faculty grants program includes an extra $10,000 for sustainability-related proposals through a partnership between the Faculty Advisory Committee on Sustainability (FACS) and Committee on Research, and supported by the EVC & Provost.

To be considered for these dedicated funds, you need only check the relevant box on the application form. This will enhance your chance of funding.

Per the call: Proposals requesting sustainability funds should support UC Merced’s efforts to achieve sustainability by investigating pathways to sustainability and/or implementing a concept that will help the world move toward sustainability. FACS aims to support a portfolio of proposals that address the three pillars of sustainability — social, environmental, and economic justice — and align with the campus’s sustainability commitment to “advance and implement an integrated campus sustainability strategic plan that showcases by 2030 how knowledge is generated and applied to effect institutional and societal change toward a just and sustainable environment and society for all communities present and future.” Include a section briefly explaining how your proposed research contributes to these goals.

We look forward to reading and funding your outstanding proposals!

Mike,
On behalf of FACS
