Colleagues,

Student Employment Services would like to provide some important updates and reminders as we welcome our students back to campus.

Hours of Work

During the academic year, students are limited to 18 hours per week.  However, due to this year’s instructional delays, students will be allowed to work expanded hours of up to 40 per week through September 4th.  This applies to all non-academic students, including FWS eligible.

New Hire Intake

Due to an unprecedented volume of student hires, the intake processing time is currently exceeding 10+ business days.  SES staff are making every effort to process requests as quickly as possible.  This includes facilitation of additional in person intake events during this week.

All events will take place in the Dining Pavilion, room 105 on the below dates and times.


  *   Tuesday, August 24, 2021 – 8 am to 5 pm
  *   Wednesday, August 25, 2021 – 8 am to 5 pm
  *   Thursday, August 26, 2021 – 8 am to 5 pm
  *   Friday, August 27, 2021 – 8 am to 5 pm

Communication related to the added dates above have been sent to students directly.

CLEAR TO WORK NOTICES:   Students are being notified at the time of their intake that they are clear to work.  Intake requestor & supervisor will be copied on the student’s “Welcome” email from Payroll Services once they’ve been provisioned in UCPath.

Job Postings

All requests for job postings received up to 9 pm today (August 23rd) have been posted to Handshake.  As a reminder, hiring managers do not currently have access to review or manage their pools directly in Handshake.  Expanded accessibility will be provided with Phase 2 of the Handshake for on campus employment deployment; anticipated for Spring 2022. Inquiries

To avoid additional processing delays, SES will be (temporarily) suspending responses to inquiries regarding the status of student hires.
