We have been made aware of the incorrect times for our Doodle poll link that was sent out last week in our email campaign for our SSHA Graduate Services MAW, Qualifying Exam, and Graduation Process workshops. We have created a new link and have extended the deadline to complete the Doodle poll by Wednesday, Feb. 5th at 5pm. This email will provide important information about the upcoming Spring 2025 semester dates, deadlines and events for you to keep in mind.
Reminder: Spring 2025 census date is February 10, 2025.
For SSHA graduate students who are interested or in the process of doing 1) Master Along the Way (MAW), 2) advancement to candidacy for Ph.D. degree, or 3) have plans of graduating this Spring 2025 semester, SSHA Graduate Services will be holding two informational ZOOM sessions. Please complete the Doodle Poll<https://ucmerced.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=078f16bd75261c1e4d4881ef2&id=4ee2b5c558&e=0c86715633> by 5PM on Monday. February 3, 2025, to ensure we schedule two sessions that best accommodate your busy schedule. After this deadline, ZOOM invites will be sent out for the most selected times. You will only need to attend one. Spring 2025 | Registration & Funding Reminders
In preparation for Spring 2025 semester, here are some important reminders.
1. In Spring 2025, graduate students must be enrolled in 12 units:
a. To be eligible to hold a TA/GSR appointment.
b. To be eligible to hold a fellowship.
c. Students enrolled in less than 12 units need to submit the Petition for Reduced Fee Part Time form<https://ucmerced.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=078f16bd75261c1e4d4881ef2&id=3b5e124217&e=0c86715633> and submit the completed form to Graduate Division for review (gradservices at ucmerced.edu<mailto:gradservices at ucmerced.edu>)<mailto:gradservices at ucmerced.edu> with SSHA Graduate Services CC’ed.
d. If you are experiencing issues registering for courses, please reach out to SSHA Graduate Services (ssha.grad at ucmerced.edu<mailto:ssha.grad at ucmerced.edu>) as soon as possible with a screenshot of the registration error for assistance.
d. To request research/independent study units, submit the Independent Study webform<https://ucmerced.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=078f16bd75261c1e4d4881ef2&id=32ba7028ef&e=0c86715633> on the Office of the Registrar’s website.
i. Please note, this webform will go through an approval process. Once the instructor of record approves the request, the Office of the Registrar will send you the CRN code for you to enroll in the course. You will not be automatically enrolled and must register for the course via your student portal.
1. For Spring 2025 semester, if you plan to:

1. For those that have received a TA or GSR appointment for Spring 2025:
a. Please accept, or decline, your appointment by sending SSHA Graduate Services with your signed documents.
1. SSHA Graduate Services recommends the following:
a. Check your UC Merced email frequently
b. Check in regularly with your faculty graduate advisor regarding matters such as your academic progress, research, plans for examinations during the academic semester, and graduation plans.
c. Schedule an appointment with SSHA Graduate Services if you have any questions or plan to do your qualifying exam or graduating soon.
d. Review the Advancement to Candidacy tab<https://ucmerced.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=078f16bd75261c1e4d4881ef2&id=d317ee6300&e=0c86715633> for updated and revised workflows for your graduate programs.
