[Sshagradstudents] Fall 2022 semester deadlines and preparing for Spring 2023 semester

Hello SSHA Graduate Students,

Hopefully, your semester is going well.

To prepare for a successful semester, we recommend the following:

  *   Check your UC Merced email frequently
  *   Make note of the following important fall 2022 dates and deadlines<https://ssha-grad.ucmerced.edu/important-deadlines/fall> (we will also add these to your calendars for ease)
  *   Review your graduate programs policies and procedures <https://ssha-grad.ucmerced.edu/graduate-programs>
  *   Check in with regularly your faculty graduate advisor<https://ssha-grad.ucmerced.edu/progress-degree/maintaining-productive-relationship-your-advisor-and-committee> regarding matters such as your academic progress, research, plans for examinations during the fall semester and graduation plans.
  *   If you are a Teaching Assistant<https://ssha-grad.ucmerced.edu/funding-employment/teaching-assistant> or Graduate Student Researcher<https://ssha-grad.ucmerced.edu/funding-employment/graduate-student-researcher>, meet with the Instructor of Record (TA) or the Principal Investigator (GSR) to understand expectations.
  *   Visit the SSHA Graduate Services<https://ssha-grad.ucmerced.edu/> website for information and resources

In preparation of Spring 2023 semester registration, please check your degree audit (My Degree Audit)via your student portal to track your progress meeting your graduate program’s requirements and consult with your faculty graduate advisor.

For Spring 2023 semester, if you plan to:

  *   Withdraw from the university, please submit the Leaving UC Merced form on the Office of the Registrar’s website.
  *   Take and Educational Leave, submit the Leaving UC Merced form on the Office of the Registrar’s website
  *   Be In Absentia, please submit the In Absentia form found on Graduate Division’s website

**If you plan to take your Qualifying Examination for the Ph.D. the Application for the Qualifying Examination <file:///C:/Users/mgarcia379/Desktop/application_for_qualifying_examination_0.pdf> must be submitted a minimum of thirty (30) days before the exam date.

***If you are graduating in fall 2022 with an MA or MS, you must be advanced to candidacy.
****If you are graduating in fall 2022 review the degree checklists MA<file:///C:/Users/mgarcia379/Desktop/IH%20Forms/masters_checklist_for_completion_1_0.pdf> and Ph.D.<file:///C:/Users/mgarcia379/Desktop/IH%20Forms/phd_checklist_for_completion._1_1.pdf> and note all deadlines

Last day to submit all paperwork for a Master’s Along the Way to the Ph.D. : November 16

Last day to advance to candidacy for the Ph.D. for spring 2023: December 14
Last day to file the Report on Final Examination for the Ph.D<file:///C:/Users/mgarcia379/Desktop/updated_phd_final_report.pdf>. with Graduate Division: December 16
Last day to file the Final Report on the Master Degree <file:///C:/Users/mgarcia379/Desktop/finalreportmastersdegree-updated_0.pdf> with Graduate Division: December 16
