University
To: <ITEX-LIST at lists.ubc.ca>

Dear ITEX colleagues,

I hope this message finds you well.

I am pleased to share an opportunity for a PhD position in tundra plant and
ecosystem ecology in my newly established lab at NC State, *starting in
May-June 2026*. The successful candidate will join a project focused on
functional trait diversity and biogeochemical dynamics in rapidly changing
tundra ecosystems. The research integrates long-term experimental platforms
with comparative field studies across the Yukon–Kuskokwim Delta in Alaska,
high-Arctic Svalbard, and the high-alpine Gavia Valley in Italy. The
student will conduct intensive field campaigns, laboratory analyses, and
quantitative ecological work at NC State.

I am not sure the attachment will be visible through the listserver, but I
have included it here. It outlines the project scope, expected fieldwork,
training environment, and application procedures. Interested candidates
should contact me at *mpetitb at ncsu.edu by Friday, 19 December 2025*. I
would be grateful if you could circulate this announcement to students or
colleagues who might know strong applicants. If the attachment does not
appear, the full advertisement is available at the link:
https://jobs.rwfm.tamu.edu/view-job/?id=110394.

Thank you very much, and I look forward to hearing from many prospective
applicants.

Best regards,

     Matteo
