Dear Dr. Frank,

My name is Nicole Bouvier-Brown, and I am the Director of the Environmental
Science Program at Loyola Marymount University (LMU). I am pleased to
announce we are hiring a tenure-track Assistant Professor in environmental
science. *Please feel free to share this information with anyone who might
be interested in the position.*

We seek innovative teacher-scholars who demonstrate an understanding of and
a commitment to (1) excellence in lecture and laboratory teaching at all
undergraduate levels, (2) developing and maintaining a thriving,
independent environmental science research program with undergraduate
students, and (3) mentoring and teaching students from diverse backgrounds.
A PhD (held by August 15, 2025) in environmental science or a closely
related field is required. We are open to a variety of academic areas
within environmental science, but experience with GIS analysis is required
and field work is valued.

The successful candidate is expected to teach introductory and advanced
environmental science (ENVS) lecture and laboratory courses, upper division
electives within the candidate’s area of expertise, and other courses to
fill program needs. Specifically, the current curricular needs in the ENVS
Program that a successful candidate could contribute to include an
introductory environmental science survey course for first-year majors, a
sophomore-level course focusing on data analysis using statistics and GIS,
or an upper division environmental monitoring laboratory course. In
addition to excellent teaching, the successful candidate is expected to
establish an active research program that will include undergraduate
students. To learn more about LMU and the ENVS Program, visit www.lmu.edu
and https://cse.lmu.edu/department/envs/. Additionally, environmental
science faculty and students have unique opportunities to collaborate with
the Coastal Research Institute https://cse.lmu.edu/research/cri/ and
receive financial support. To learn more about LMU’s faculty, please visit:
https://academics.lmu.edu/joinourfaculty/.

LMU, a Carnegie classified R2 institution in the mainstream of American
Catholic higher education, seeks outstanding applicants who value its
mission and share its commitment to inclusive excellence, the education of
the whole person, and the building of a just society. LMU is an equal
opportunity employer committed to providing an environment free from
discrimination and harassment as defined by federal, state and local law.
We invite all persons in the full diversity of their being, life
experiences, and beliefs to apply. Please read more about our commitments
and our efforts at https://resources.lmu.edu/dei/.
For an application to be complete, the following materials must be received
by October 4, 2024.

Applications are submitted online at:
