We are looking for ecologists, botanists, wildlife biologists, and anyone
interested in being part of a research team investigating how wildfires are
impacting western forests. This is your opportunity to secure a position
for the summer 2023 field season!

We are planning on hiring several crews of 3 people to look at post-fire
effects on forest structure, forest regeneration and wildlife response from
mid-May to August 2023. This work will involve the collection of data via
vegetation surveys and will be surveying for wildlife via the use of audio
recorders and camera traps at remote locations. You will be stationed at
one of several recent fires including the Creek fire (burned: 2020, duty
station: Shaver Lake, Sierra NF), August Complex (2020, Willows, Mendocino
NF), or Bootleg (2021, Bly or Lakeview, Fremont-Winema NF). Access to
survey locations will require use of a 4wd vehicle (provided) and
navigation on foot over rugged terrain including steep slopes, dense
vegetation and intermittent streams. Some camping will be required. Housing
will not be provided, but low-cost bunk housing may be available.
