Sorry for spamming. This keeps getting bounced back by the listserve. I
trimmed some photos out so hopefully that helps...

Best,

Jay

Hi Everyone,

We successfully planted the ~3,500 scarlet monkeyflowers at Batterson
Station near Oakhurst a few weeks back thanks to many of you! (see message
below and attached project summary and pictures of the garden from a few
days ago.) We now are in the process of measuring their size as they come
into flower, and hundreds are coming into flower per week, making it hard
to keep up (a good problem to have!).

If you or anyone you know might like to visit the garden and have a spare
day to help measure plants, please write to our project manager, Xitlaly
Gomex (Cc'd), and she will help organize getting you there to the garden.
We have crews heading up several times per week from Merced or driving down
from Wawona. Faculty, if you have any undergrad. workers you could spare
for a day here or there, we're happy to reciprocate by having our crew help
you with whatever you might need help with later this summer. Please
forward this to anyone who you think might be interested.

Hope you're having a great summer!

Best,

Jay

Hi Everyone,

I've mentioned to you here and there over the past year about how we're
setting up a common garden for scarlet monkeyflowers just south of Yosemite
NP. (See attached project 1-pager).

Well, the time is finally here to plug them into the ground. We've got
~3,500 seedlings to transplant from the UC Merced greenhouse to Batterson
Station (US Forest Service). We're starting our big push to get them in the
ground this week, and the push will probably last a couple of weeks,
including plantings, quality checks, and initial measurements. If you or
anyone you know feels like checking it out and can spare any time to help
plug and/or measure some plants in that garden, please let me know.

If you Google Maps "Yosemite Forks" it will give you an approximate
location of the garden, but here are the coordinates: 37.3795278172747,
-119.62896439552196

Hopefully by mid-summer we'll have quite a pollinator garden up there.

Hope you're having a great summer.

Jay
