2023 SNRI Research Symposium

Tuesday, 3/7/2023 @ 10am-1pm (tentative time, pending final confirmation of speaker availability)

In-person, UC Merced Conference Center

A UC Merced Research Week Event



SNRI is home to exciting and relevant environmental research for the Central Valley, Sierra Nevada mountains and foothills, and beyond! The 2023 SNRI Symposium, “Climate Action Research @ UC Merced,” is geared toward science and lay audiences alike and we are soliciting short, 5-minute talks from our researchers to spark discussion, feedback, and inspiration to meet the environmental challenges of today and tomorrow.



What: 5-minute Talks, either Lightning Talk (3-6 slides, 5 minutes) or Ignite Talk (20 slides, 15 seconds each) formats allowed<https://www.beautiful.ai/blog/lightning-talks-and-ignite-talks-a-beginners-guide>, with total talk time limit of 5 minutes strictly enforced!

Who: SNRI faculty, postdocs, project scientists, field researchers, graduate and undergraduate students



Potential talk topic ideas:

  *   Recent Climate Action Research proposal pitch
  *   Community Engaged Environmental Research
  *   Increasing Diversity and Inclusivity in field and lab sciences
  *   Your latest environmental research
  *   Other…

  *   Name
  *   Position (if a student, identify the name of the faculty PI lab you work under)
  *   Proposed talk title, and
  *   3-4 sentence abstract



***** Travel awards of $500 each for:

  *   Best student (graduate or undergraduate) research talk
  *   Best professional (post-doc, other researcher) research talk
  *   Best faculty research talk (winning faculty may also elect to transfer award to one of their students)

Note: must be a current SNRI member or student of an SNRI member to be eligible for travel award. Must present original research.



12-1pm -- Lunch/networking hour!

Join us for food and networking after talks.
