Dear QSB members,

Thank you to all who participated in the micro search interviews. All of
the candidates enjoyed their visits and left enthusiastic about the
prospect of joining UCM. Thank you to everyone for making this happen.

Now comes the hard part. We have to chose one.

I would love to hear feedback on candidates from everyone who
participated. It is okay if you didn't participate in every interview.
Please aslo indicate the candidate you wold most strongly like to join us
at UCM and the reasons why.

This won't be an entirely democratic process. In other words, it isn't
just a vote. However, the committee picked the best candidates across
broad disciplines with the intention of finding the best fit for UCM.

As a reminder, the candidates were
Eric Bruger (computational, E. coli flux and fitness)
Ben Akiyama (structural biology, viruses)
Maggie Sogin (Marine grass microbial symbionts and endosymbionts)
Noelia Lander (Trypanosomes, Chagas disease)

Obviously the more detailed your input, the better, but even opinions based
on the flavor of science or brief interactions are welcome .

Please be sure to cc Gordon Bennett and Juris Grasis as well when you
respond to me.

Please get these to us by the close of business, (not sure when that even
is anymore), the Monday after spring break (woohoo! beach party in the
bathtub!) March 30th.

Thanks,
Miriam
