Hi all,
Friday's QSB seminar speaker will be Ruth Timme.
Ruth is a computational evolutionary biologist. She is a Research
Microbiologist at the US Food and Drug Administration, Center for Food
Safety and Nutrition, and runs the Genome Trackr program, a global
network of research laboratories using whole genome sequencing for
pathogen identification in order to speed foodborne illness outbreak
investigations and reduce foodborne illnesses and deaths.
She also has a background in systematic botany!
Faculty and postdocs - sign up for a meeting with Ruth here:

I encourage graduate students to come to lunch, especially if you are
interested in food borne illnesses, computational biology, or government
agency positions.
Please contact Jasper Toscani Field <jtoscanifield at ucmerced.edu> to get
on the list for lunch.
She will be at the SNS picnic at Vista for dinner!
Contact me (ejmctavish at ucmerced.edu) with any questions.
Thank you,
Emily Jane
