Please note that I mis-stated the lecture time. It is as it says at the registrar; MW 10:30 am to 11:45 am. Sorry for confusion!

I will be expanding lectures on statistics and machine learning, including nonparametric methods (such as bootstrapping, permutation tests and cross-validation), goodness of fit, empirical Bayesian methods including moderated t and F statistics for gene expression analysis and proteomics, False Discovery Rates (including Benjamini-Hochberg FDR and Storey-Tibshirani q-values) and more.

These tools allow practitioners to communicate effectively with collaborators who use exclusively microsoft file formats like excel and word. I will be teaching elements of programming in R and Python using interpretive, functional and object-oriented programming styles.

The lab provides the major opportunity for me to demonstrate skills in practice, and for students to work in groups to solve problems and assignments together.
