Dear ES, L&ES, and Q&SB faculty, postdocs, and grad students,
We are organizing a professional development event, PITCH YOUR RESEARCH, on Nov. 30th 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at SSM 230.
Goal: The event aims to help students and young scientists to communicate more effectively for interdisciplinary research and science communication.
Format: The event includes a 15-min mini-lecture focusing on how to give an effective elevator pitch, and a 45-min session of multiple elevator pitches and discussions.
To Participate: Volunteers are encouraged to provide 1-min elevator pitches of their research in front of a group of audiences of diverse research disciplines. The pitch should cover major research findings and significances in an effective way for interdisciplinary research communication. Volunteers can contact the event committee (eperezcoronel at ucmerced.edu<mailto:eperezcoronel at ucmerced.edu>) for more details. The spots are limited, please contact us soon if you're interested.
The event planning committee is composed of Jing Yan, Elisabet Perez Coronel, Laura Van Vranken and Nate Bogie. Many thanks to everyone for assisting with the planning!
Cheers,
Jing
