With thanks to Ashlie for pointing me towards this opportunity, NSF has a
new initiative which provides supplemental funding for internships for grad
students—please see link below. This could be a very nice source of
additional funding for some of our students.

Amount of supplemental funding: *Up to $50,000 per student per six-month
period or 20% of the original award total (whichever is lower).*



*Requests will be reviewed and processed on a rolling basis.  *



Types of Non-Academic *Host Organizations* pertinent to this opportunity:



   - Corporate Industrial laboratories or industry research and development
   groups;
   - Start-ups, such as (but not limited to) those funded through the NSF's
   Small Business
   - Innovation Research (SBIR) program and Small Business Technology
   Transfer (STTR) program;
   - Government agencies and National Laboratories;
   - Policy think-tanks; and
   - Non-profit organizations.
