The Graduate Division is pleased to officially begin the countdown for this
year’s GradSLAM!

We know that UC Merced graduate students are working hard to find answers
to fascinating questions, deep mysteries, and the world’s most pressing
issues. The question is: can you *talk* about your research in a way that
is engaging, exciting, and moves people to want to work with you, fund you,
or employ you?

If that question is a little scary, you're not alone. A huge percentage of
graduate students find it difficult to effectively communicate about their
work. That's where GradSLAM! comes in.

The annual GradSLAM! competition is a chance for all our graduate students
to take their work to another level. Each participating student will
distill their research into three minutes and three slides that tell the
story: What we don’t know, why it matters, what you did to find out, and
where we go from here.

Along the way, you will learn visual and oral presentation techniques that
will help you prepare for all the public speaking you must do in your
graduate career and beyond—conference talks, dissertation defense, job
talks, and more!

Signing up for GradSLAM! is easy.
