Please forward to potential candidates:

The Biology Department and Biochemistry & Molecular Biology Program at Lewis & Clark College is seeking a tenure-track faculty member in molecular biology. The deadline for application is October 1, and the official job posting is attached.

The ideal candidate for this position will establish a research program that uses experimental approaches to investigate the molecular mechanisms that underlie the regulation of gene expression (for example, chromatin modifications, epigenetics, noncoding RNAs) and/or genome integrity and stability. Candidates should be committed to excellent teaching and to developing a productive, externally funded research program involving undergraduates. We seek a colleague who shares our enthusiasm for providing students from diverse backgrounds with outstanding teaching, research, and mentoring in science. The successful candidate will have a joint appointment in the Biology Department and the Biochemistry/Molecular Biology Program.

Lewis & Clark College is a private liberal arts college of approximately 1,900 undergraduates. The faculty in Biology & BCMB share a common vision and commitment to innovative science teaching and undergraduate research. We represent the full spectrum of biological investigation in both teaching and research, and we all maintain active, externally funded research programs. We attract bright, curious and engaged students who are a delight to teach and mentor in research.

Portland is a beautiful, friendly city with a vibrant arts culture and an active downtown. Nestled between the Cascade mountain range and the Pacific coast, the city is well known for its fantastic food, coffee, microbreweries, its commitment to environmental issues and access to the outdoors. For example, Portland has been named both the most sustainable as well as the top bike-friendly city in the country.

Again, the deadline for application is October 1. We would be delighted to answer any questions about our department, the College, or Portland in general (biology at lclark.edu<mailto:biology at lclark.edu>, weissman at lclark.edu<mailto:weissman at lclark.edu>).
