This week we have two new papers in print to share with you. (see attached)

1. “Optimizing the Configuration of Photovoltaic Plants to Minimize the Need for Storage” which quantifies how the seasonal mismatch between generation and load can be reduced by installing solar panels with south-facing tilt.

2. “Geographical Variability of Summer- and Winter-dominant Onshore Wind” which shows how the majority of locations in California have greater wind resource in winter than in summer despite the current fleet generating more electricity in the summer.

We are working with E3 on implementing RESOLVE in a way that can simulate full-year data. I’m hoping that we will have the software ready to do full-size simulations in about 1-2 months.
