Here’s a quick reminder of the presentation by UC Davis, starting in about an hour
When: 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM July 29, 2022
Subject: LDES presentation by UC Davis
Location: https://ucmerced.zoom.us/j/4364884550
In the second of the three part webinar, Alan Jenn and Xinwei Li will present their modeling and analysis of the role of the electric sector in producing hydrogen for both California end uses and for energy storage within the sector. They employ the Grid Optimized Operation Dispatch (GOOD) model to simulate the operation of power plants in the Western Interconnect (WECC) through 2050 under a range of scenarios, with particular focus on a high hydrogen end use scenario and cost-effective hydrogen storage opportunities. They will present findings for how the electricity grid will build-out capacity and respond to the dynamics of coupling hydrogen demand from transportation and other end uses. They will also examine the emissions impacts from the electricity grid and the spatial implications of hydrogen production.
If you’re interested in knowing more about UC Davis work in this area and/or if you missed last week’s webinar, you will find a recording and other information at https://its.ucdavis.edu/research/uc-davis-hydrogen-fuel-cell-projects/. UC Davis has also shared the slides from last week if you would like a copy of them, but I’m not attaching them to avoid putting a big attachment in your calendar.

This is the second of a series we plan to host in July/August.
UC Davis California Hydrogen Analysis Project webinar series:
July 22: Project overview, methodology, and transportation/h2 modeling results
July 29: Electric sector and hydrogen: methods and modeling results
Aug. 5: Linking supply to demand: hydrogen supply chain methods and modeling results
