I think the journal club is a great idea and am sure I would benefit from
it.

Happy New Year, everyone!

I hope all of you are having a wonderful holiday! I’m very thankful to be
working with all of you.

One of my New Year’s resolutions is to try to communicate well about
meetings. So, here is a start:

Planned meeting times (all times Pacific):

*Fridays at 9 am* we will continue with our standard meetings. If you
didn’t receive a meeting invite for Fridays at 9 am, please add it to your
calendar and help me find out why you didn’t receive it.

*Jan. 8th* we will discuss feedback for E3 about their proposed scenarios
and what we would like to do - I will send a separate email about this
because it is an important discussion.

*Jan. 15th* Erin Childs from Strategen will meet with us about Strategen’s
report: https://www.storagealliance.org/longduration
<https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.storagealliance.org%2Flongduration&data=04%7C01%7Cechilds%40strategen.com%7Ce38a52bede9045666b6608d89d7588bb%7C5776570c455d4878b13c39bf8e74aff3%7C0%7C0%7C637432475425137763%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=9h4WhmssYMxBCLigOxPSNbXGNFNWd0FTH7Xw3hQgI78%3D&reserved=0>

Journal club - I’d like to start a weekly journal club meeting *for those
who are interested.*

I’m suggesting *Mondays at 10 am* Will this work for everyone who is
interested?

*Jan. 11* Discuss Strategen Report
https://www.storagealliance.org/longduration
<https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.storagealliance.org%2Flongduration&data=04%7C01%7Cechilds%40strategen.com%7Ce38a52bede9045666b6608d89d7588bb%7C5776570c455d4878b13c39bf8e74aff3%7C0%7C0%7C637432475425137763%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=9h4WhmssYMxBCLigOxPSNbXGNFNWd0FTH7Xw3hQgI78%3D&reserved=0>
Note
that Strategen concludes we need 55 GW of long-duration storage. Dan was
surprised by this. Is there anything in the report that we want to quiz
Erin Childs about?

Please be considering what reports/papers you would like to discuss in
future weeks. I would love it if each of you is willing to take a turn
volunteering to identify an important paper to discuss. We may start with
some suggestions from the recent TAC meeting.

The Technology evaluation sub team is scheduled to meet *Wednesdays at 8 am*
(is there any change to this?)

The SWITCH Modeling group is scheduled to meet *Thursdays at 11 am*

I am planning to try doing something like “Office hours or group work
time” *Monday
through Thursday at 1 pm* and maybe Fridays at 4 pm. This would be a time
that we can connect informally to check on progress and maybe get help from
Pedro if he’s available 😊.

Wishing you all the the best year ever in 2021!

Sarah
