The Path to 100% Clean Electricity:
With Sally Benson and Arun Majumdar
Wednesday, April 28, 2021
8:30am-10:00 am Pacific Time

This final webinar in the Decarbonizing the Grid series will include a summary of what has been learned during the series. Sally Benson, will share insights from her latest study on California’s Senate Bill 100 “The 100 Percent Clean Energy Act of 2018.” and Arun Majumdar, will cover the Federal Clean Electricity Standard which aims to achieve 80% carbon-free by 2030 and 100% by 2035. Sally and Arun will discuss strategies for achieving 100% clean electricity and the challenges.

Smart Grid Seminar:
Development and Deployment of UHV transmission technologies in China
Thursday, April 29, 2021
2:30pm-3:30 pm Pacific Time

Speaker: Qing He, Senior manager, GEIDCO

Seminar Abstract:

With the increasing interconnectivity of the power grid, the benefits will be a qualitative leap forward. Based on changes such as high proportion of intermittent clean energy access, high-voltage high-capacity controllable DC transmission technology and the ever-expanding scale of interconnection, the concept of global energy interconnection (GEI) is put forward. In the future, GEI with the ability of inclusiveness, mutual assistance, access to a variety of renewable energy sources, could make full use of different energy resources by space-time complementarity, and promote clean energy as the dominant energy source.

Speaker Bio:

Dr. Qing HE is Senior Manager of GEIDCO, North America office, based in New York City, U.S, where he is responsible for technical communication. Dr. He joined GEIDCO as a Researcher in the Economic and Technology Division in January 2018. From September 2018 – September 2019, he was with the Africa Office in Ethiopia. He started his career at China Electric Power Research Institute (CEPRI) as a Planning and Operation Researcher, where he has worked for 7 years and has involved with many ultra high voltage (UHV) projects on the interconnection power grid. Dr. He holds a Ph.D. in Power System and Automation from CEPRI, China.
