All,
Our manager provided a little feedback on the draft Kick-off slides. I’ve also made some other edits in the attached.
Dan,
I have a couple of questions for you - he noted before that we should do both a workshop in northern California and in southern California. Can you help me understand the difference between the two? Other suggestions of how to respond to his first bullet? I assume you can help me fill in the accomplishments slide during our meeting tomorrow.
Thanks!
Sarah

Hi Sarah,
I think the PPT is on the right track. I have a few suggestions:
* more about the public workshops
* a slide for the benefits to California/benefits to ratepayers
* keep the backup slides because they might be useful during Q&A, but put them after the presentation ending slide
For examples of materials from public workshops, I found this workshop from 2019 about a DER Research Roadmap. https://www.energy.ca.gov/event/2020-05/staff-workshop-summarizing-der-research-roadmap If you click the "Docket Log" in the related links on the right, you will find slide decks and presentations from the workshop.
The august monthly report you attached has a good format and level of detail.
Jeff

Thank you, Jeff,
The letters of commitment are being supplied alongside of the new budgets. We are working on a question about the difference between the fringe rate if I’m paid during the summer vs during the school year, then I think we’re close to having the package together, though it will still need to go through our SPO for a review before going to you.
I’m attaching the draft for Friday. I assume that you won’t be circulating this - Dan has promised to add some words describing his past work on one of the slides and these slides have been out for review with my team for a couple of days - I expect a few more edits. Your comments/suggestions are welcome. Note that I intend to present the first 27 slides. The rest are back up slides or may be just deleted.
Similarly, I see that we are supposed to share a draft of presentation materials for the Introductory workshops as of next week some time. I would welcome a conversation with you about that or a link to what someone in a similar project did before. I’m not completely clear the extent to which we should be actively requesting information, vs informing what we are thinking.
I’ve also attached the draft August monthly report. I bumped the due dates for the deliverables back a month. The near term ones I confirmed were not on a weekend, but I didn’t check all of them and there are still many that are TBD. I look forward to your feedback.
Sarah

Hi Sarah,
The letter I need for the match is the commitment letter from the new match partner, same format as in the proposal (see attachment). I don't need it by a specific date but I would need it before you can use match from the new match partner.
You can exceed your budgeted match amount, no need to make a budget increase to it.
I don't think we need a call, but I can look at the draft of the monthly report.
I have one question for you,
Do you have draft or WIP of the Kickoff presentation that you could send me tomorrow?
Thanks,
Jeff

Hi, Jeff,
I see on the schedule that you expect me to send a status letter about the match funds 2 days before the Kick-off meeting.
Can you tell me the format you need for this letter?
That is the most urgent question (assuming you want it by Wednesday)
I have a couple of additional questions:
I could increase the match funds, but I’m hesitant to do so because if something falls through I don’t know if you’ll let me decrease them back to the original amount. Is there any motivation for me to increase the amount of match? It’s extra work and I’m already mired in a pile of paperwork.
I have a rough draft of the technical part of the first monthly report done. Would it make sense to set a time to review it?
I hope you’ve had a nice weekend!
Sarah
