[LDES-technology] Meetings with E3

I think the ongoing postponements of the meetings with E3 have been a little confusing, so this email is intended to clarify a little bit what’s going on.

First of all, it’s not necessary that everyone join the meetings with E3. In fact, it could be better to have smaller meetings, but if you’re curious, I don’t want people to feel excluded.

We currently have two meetings on the calendar:

2 pm on Wed. Oct. 14th with meeting invitation from Jeffrey Sunquist: This is intended to be a formal meeting at which we will be able to get CEC guidance about questions like: Would CEC prefer that we work together with E3 or separately to define how to modify RESOLVE to do good modeling of long-duration storage. The reason this keeps getting postponed is because the CEC person(s) who were the masterminds of the plan to do this work have too many meetings. Given past history, I think none of us will be surprised if it is delayed again…

3 pm on Mon. Oct. 19th with meeting invitation from me: This may be a meeting without CEC and will be more at the level of discussing whether E3 is interested in working with us on Github to make revisions, whether they plan to use a different software package altogether, or…??? I’m not sure what they are going to say, but this is mostly for those who will be doing modeling. Those who are studying learning curves may skip it. Those will use only SWITCH and not RESOLVE are welcome to skip it, but may find it interesting.

Let me know if you have questions - I know we’ve been scheduling a lot of meetings and I always struggle to both make people feel included, but to not waste people’s time on meetings that don’t relate to their own work. Please don’t feel shy about asking, if you have a question…

Thanks!

Sarah
