I forgot to close the loop on who would prepare summaries to share next Wednesday about the next two groups we’ll talk with next week (these may differ a little from what I shared yesterday on Malta because they are at different stages).
The two groups for next week are:
1. Harvard University is developing a flow battery using an organic approach (not the more standard vanadium or zinc). I think they are a ways away from commercialization.
2. Quidnet - Is doing geomechnical - they pump water into rock a couple of km below the surface (after drilling a deep hole, obviously) and then use the pressure later to convert back to electricity. Essentially, they are using the elastic properties of the rock.
Any volunteers? I can share a little more with you, but mostly it is what you can find on a website…
Sarah
