I just sent this meeting invitation, but am resending to make sure that it reached everyone...

From: skurtz at ucmerced.edu<mailto:skurtz at ucmerced.edu>
When: 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM January 15, 2021
Subject: CEC LDES project - Presentation by Erin Childs of Strategen
Location: https://ucmerced.zoom.us/j/4364884550

Here is a quick reminder of the meeting this Friday. The Strategen study covers a lot of topics that are directly related to the work we are doing, so I hope everyone can make it!
Erin Childs of Strategen has graciously agreed to meet with us about CESA’s new study “Long Duration Energy Storage for California’s Clean, Reliable Grid” which you may find at:
https://www.storagealliance.org/longduration<https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.storagealliance.org%2Flongduration&data=04%7C01%7Cechilds%40strategen.com%7Ce38a52bede9045666b6608d89d7588bb%7C5776570c455d4878b13c39bf8e74aff3%7C0%7C0%7C637432475425137763%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=9h4WhmssYMxBCLigOxPSNbXGNFNWd0FTH7Xw3hQgI78%3D&reserved=0>
This study is obviously very relevant to our study of long-duration storage. Key conclusions include:
California needs 45-55 gigawatts of long duration energy storage by 2045 to hit climate targets and maintain clean, reliable electricity.
New research finds California alone will need to increase its long duration energy storage capacity deploying 2-11 GW by 2030, and 45-55 GW by 2045.
