Named in honor of California’s first African American state legislator, the Frederick M. Roberts Scholarship<https://cablackcaucus.org/scholarships/>, was established to increase college access and provide guided support to deserving California students in pursuit of their academic goals. A long tradition of the [cablackcaucus.org/scholarships/]California Legislative Black Caucus, the scholarship is the continued commitment for direct investment in California’s youth.



AWARDS

Selected scholarship awardees are eligible to receive:

  *   one-time monetary award of $3,500
  *   a laptop
  *   enrollment in personalized, one-to-one coaching from our college success partner BEYOND12<https://www.beyond12.org/>.



ELIGIBILITY

The Frederick M. Roberts College Scholarship<https://cablackcaucus.org/scholarships/> is available to graduating California high school students preparing for college and current California undergraduate college students.



California high school graduates
Class of 2026



  *   Provide written proof of acceptance at an accredited institution of higher learning for Fall 2026
  *   In good academic standing with a minimum 2.5 GPA or higher



Or Full-time college students enrolled at an accredited College or University



  *   Provide most recent transcript and proof of enrollment for Fall 2026
  *   In good academic standing with a minimum 2.5 GPA or higher



2026 Application NOW OPEN!

  *   Complete the online CLBCPI Scholarship application
  *   Be in good academic standing with a minimum 2.5 GPA or higher
  *   Two (2) short essay responses
  *   Two (2) signed recommendation letters
  *   Letters must be dated within the last 90 days and specific to this scholarship
  *   One recommendation from a community member not related to you
  *   One recommendation from a school official
  *   Most recent transcript (official or unofficial)
  *   Written acceptance letter -or- proof of enrollment
  *   Photo of applicant
