The Dermatology Career Preparation Program (Derm Career Prep)<https://www.aad.org/member/career/diversity/pathways/hs-college> is part of the American Academy of Dermatology’s <https://www.aad.org/member/career/diversity/pathways/> Pathways: Inclusivity in Dermatology<https://www.aad.org/member/career/diversity/pathways/> initiative. This initiative provides programming from high school through medical school, designed to build the skills, knowledge, and exposure needed to pursue a career in dermatology. Derm Career Prep is an immersive, five-day learning experience for undergraduate (preferably premedical) and post-baccalaureate students who have an interest in dermatology. This year’s program will take place in the Chicagoland area from June 22–26, 2026.



The nonrefundable program fee is $150 for the entire week and does not include travel or lodging. However, limited need-based scholarships for travel and lodging assistance are available and may be requested as part of the general application. The program fee covers daily meals (breakfast, lunch, and snacks) as well as transportation for medical school visits.

Students are encouraged to apply if they meet one or more of the following criteria:

  *   They are currently a high school senior or enrolled in college
  *   They are currently enrolled in a health-related post-baccalaureate program (or will be enrolled in Fall 2026)
  *   They are interested in medicine but are still exploring potential specialties
  *   They are interested in pursuing a career in dermatology

Please note that applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and spots are limited. Once capacity is reached, additional applicants will be placed on a waitlist—so early applications are strongly encouraged.
