Kaiser Permanente (KP) LAUNCH (Learning About Unlimited New Careers in Healthcare)<https://kplaunch.kaiserpermanente.org/> is a paid summer internship program for underrepresented high school and college students, aiming to diversify the healthcare workforce by providing real-world experience, professional skills, and mentorship in various clinical and administrative roles, helping them explore careers in the field. It's a long-running program, often around seven to eight weeks, focusing on building pathways for youth who might not otherwise have access to healthcare career exploration.

PROGRAM GOALS

  *   Introduce high school and undergraduate interns to careers in health professions.
  *   Provide opportunities for interns to develop and foster professional and community leadership skills in a supportive environment.
  *   Assist interns in acquiring practical job skills and experiences that will enable them to successfully pursue careers in health professions.
  *   Encourage interns to pursue higher education and career development.

Key Aspects of KP LAUNCH:

  *   Target Audience: Primarily underrepresented and low-income high school (ages 16-19) and undergraduate students.
  *   Program Goal: Introduce young people to healthcare careers, build leadership and job skills, and create a diverse talent pipeline for KP.
  *   Paid Experience: Interns receive hourly wages for their work.
  *   Hands-on Learning: Interns work in various departments (clinical, IT, HR, admin) and receive professional development training.
  *   Structure: Typically an 8-week summer program with a mix of on-site work and professional development days.
