UCI PRIME Academy for current undergrads and postbacs

UCI PRIME Academy applications are now open



The PRIME Academy is a unique summer program for undergraduate students who are interested in pursuing a career in medicine. The program is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of medical school and to prepare them for a successful application process. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in interactive lectures, workshops, clinical shadowing, and other activities that will help them develop the skills necessary to succeed in the medical field.



Applications for the UCI PRIME Academy 2026 are now open, and we are excited to invite undergraduate students from 4-year institutions and community colleges who have shown commitment to the communities served by the UCI SOM PRIME programs to apply. Pave Your Path in Medicine

The Programs in Medical Education (PRIME) Academy is a one-week experience designed to help pre-medical students who aspire to address the health needs of California’s Latino, African, Black and Caribbean communities pursue a career in medicine. Our Academy helps scholars to gain knowledge, skills, and experience which will advance their ability to champion social justice and foster health equity. Our goal is to facilitate a pathway to one of the UC Irvine School of Medicine’s two PRIME programs.



Who should apply to the PRIME-Academy?

Candidates should have enrolled in, or completed degrees, in 4-year undergraduate institutions and have interest in applying to the UC Irvine School of Medicine PRIME Programs. Like our PRIME medical students, applicants should have a record of experience in disadvantaged Latino, African, Black and/or Caribbean communities and a demonstrated passion to serve these communities in medical school and beyond. Applicants from all backgrounds are welcome to apply to the academy.
