Program Description
The AltaMed Scholars Program is a 6-week non-residential summer enrichment program in Los Angeles County, California, hosted by the Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) Team at AltaMed - Institute for Health Equity (AIHE), and funded by the Department of Health Care Access & Information. The mission of the program is to promote the training and development of a multicultural health care workforce that serves to reduce health disparities in underserved and diverse communities. The 2026 Scholars Program will have a hybrid model with in-person events and virtual events.

Scholars admitted will participate in: Health equity workshops, clinical workshops, community-based, and quality improvement research with an emphasis on health equity, professional development, and tiered mentorship.
