Message forwarded on behalf of Diversified Doctors:

Hello Bobcats,
This Thursday from 10 am to 3pm in the Commuter lounge in Sentinel Rock, Diversified Doctors is collaborating with American Red Cross to host a Blood Drive to help save lives and support our community’s health needs.
Every blood donation has the potential to save up to three lives. On top of this many patients at different hospitals rely on these donations for all the different types of treatment that they may need. If you are interested in donating, please click this link and sign up today! https://www.redcrossblood.org/give.html/drive-results?zipSponsor=ucmerced
We also want to make a special callout to donors of African American heritage. If you didn't know sickle-cell disease is the most common genetic blood disease and it often can be hard to find a compatible blood match for those patients. 1 in 3 donors who identify as African American or are of African Heritage are a compatible match for these patients. If fall under this designation your donation would be especially appreciated. Attached to this email should be a file telling you more about why your donation would be especially appreciated!
If you’re a student that is extremely passionate about healthcare, community service, or simply wants to make a meaningful impact, this is a perfect opportunity to get involved. We are taking volunteers for any time from 9 am to help with set up to 3 pm to help with closing up . As a volunteer you will help check in donors, monitor them after donation, and work with the nurses to make sure everyone gets to donate. If interested in volunteering, please email coderinde at ucmerced.edu with your availability.
As you know, hands-on service and health advocacy experience can help strengthen your application for graduate programs and future health careers. By participating in this event, you’ll not only contribute to a lifesaving cause but also demonstrate your commitment to public health and patient care. If you are a pre-health student, this can be a great opportunity for you, so I encourage you to both donate blood and to sign up for volunteering. Just because you are an undergrad doesn't mean you can't still learn about the medical field and help make an impact!
If you have any questions or concerns, please email coderinde at ucmerced.edu
