The Amgen Scholars Program provides undergraduate students interested in a PhD or MD/PhD with an opportunity to engage in a fully-funded, hands-on research experience at some of the nation's leading educational institutions for eight to twelve weeks during the summer. Fourteen United States institutions<https://amgenscholars.com/us-program/> host Amgen Scholars with application deadline of February 1, 2026.
Amgen Scholars U.S. Program applicants must be:
* U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents;
* Undergraduate students enrolled in accredited four-year colleges or universities in the United States, Puerto Rico or other U.S. territories; and
* Sophomores (with four quarters or three semesters of college experience), juniors or non-graduating seniors (who are returning in the fall to continue undergraduate studies).
U.S. Program applicants must also have:
* A cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or above; and
* An interest in pursuing a Ph.D. or M.D.-Ph.D.
Amgen Scholars at a Glance
* No previous research experience is necessary and you do not need to be a life sciences major to apply.
* You do not need to currently attend one of the 25 host institutions to participate in the program. In fact, Amgen Scholars have represented over 1,000 colleges and universities to date.

* During the program, students work full-time on independent research projects under the guidance of a research scientist.
* Amgen Scholars have opportunities to conduct research, analyze data, present research results, network with other undergraduates with similar research interests, and develop working relationships with faculty mentors and other research staff.
* Amgen Scholars learn how to collaborate effectively in research settings while investigating areas of research interest within a specific discipline and gaining practical skills and knowledge for both graduate study and post-graduate careers.
