The Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP<https://www.shpep.org/>) is a free program for 1st and 2nd year undergraduate and community college students to explore their interests in medicine, dentistry, and nursing. Scholars participate in a six-week academic enrichment program where they develop competencies for becoming successful applicants to health profession programs, through specialized academic content, simulation activities, and mentorship. Our scholars become future leaders in medicine, nursing, and dentistry and improve health care delivery, policy and research in underserved communities.

Getting health-related experience will not only help you enhance your medical school application, but will ensure you like working in a health field, give you a chance to take on leadership roles, and build your resume. While there are many opportunities out there, as a college freshman or sophomore, one great option is the Summer Health Professions Education Program<https://www.shpep.org/>.
