[UCM LIST: Healthprofadvising-l] Invitation to Register for USTU 90 - Introduction to Medical Learning 1-unit seminar

Dear Pre-Health Students,

The UC Merced Department of Medical Education is inviting any Pre-Health student to enroll in the Introduction to Medical Learning seminar course (USTU 90), offered Fall 2025, Wednesdays 1:30-2:20PM, GRAN 110.

This 1-unit seminar course is designed to provide students with an introduction to health, how health care is delivered, and basic skills to be successful as a future health professional. In this course, we will learn about what roles health professionals have interacting with patients, who is on the healthcare team and what they do as a team, and identify paths to become a health professional. Medicine and health are important career fields, especially in the San Joaquin Valley. Students will be encouraged to learn and practice skills that health professionals use including communication, patient education, and working with others. Students will be paired with a health professional mentor who will help review course topics and learning outcomes, as well as check in on progress as a student.

(Please note: We are reserving enrollment for students who have not had a chance to enroll previously, since course content is repeated each year. Registration will be opened until the course has reached capacity.)
