Campus will officially close for seven business days from Wednesday, Dec. 24, through Thursday, Jan. 1, and reopen for business Friday, Jan. 2, 2025. During this period, several campus services will not be available.
Please review the information about campus closures from the following departments and contact the appropriate parties should you have any questions:

Facilities
Facilities Management will be closed during the holidays and campus closure. The following services will not be available during the closure. Services will resume on Friday, Jan. 2:
· Custodial services for offices, common areas, etc.
· Mail services
· Document services
· Lock and access services
· Moving and event services
· Groundskeeping services

UCMPD / Emergency Services
The UC Merced Police Department field services including sworn officers and the 9-1-1 Police Dispatch Center will remain operational 24/7 throughout the winter curtailment period.
Administrative services such as Lost & Found, Live Scan Fingerprinting, and other walk-up or administrative services will be closed during curtailment and will resume when normal operations restart. In the event of an emergency that impacts campus operations during curtailment, information will be communicated through UCM Alert. We encourage everyone to take the following precautions to safeguard their room and belongings
· Lock Doors and Windows: Always make sure all doors, windows, and any other entry points are locked before leaving, even if stepping out for a short time.
· Secure Valuables: Keep valuable items such as electronics, important documents, and jewelry stored in a safe or in another secure, non-visible location.
· Secure Scooters and Bikes: Use high-quality, tamper-resistant locks to secure bikes and scooters when stored outside. Whenever possible, keep them indoors, preferably in assigned dorm rooms or another locked space to reduce the risk of theft.
If you need police assistance at any time during curtailment or outside regular business hours, please contact the UCMPD Dispatch Center at 209-228-2677.

OIT
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) Service Desk, Classroom Support, and Event Support will have adjusted hours leading up to the winter curtailment.
Adjusted Hours:
· Thursday, December 18 | 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
· Monday, December 22 | 8 a.m. - noon
· Tuesday, December 23 | 8 a.m. - noon
Our offices and support services will be closed for curtailment starting December 24 and will reopen with the rest of campus services on Friday, January 2.
Though our offices will be closed during this period, OIT can always be reached for campus emergencies. To report major campus issues or problems, call 228-HELP (4357) and select option 3. In the case of an emergency, we will communicate with the campus via the OIT System Status page, accessible from the main page of the IT website.
Please plan accordingly or reach out if you anticipate any support needs during curtailment. Wish everyone happy holidays and a safe new year.
Shipping and Receiving
The Central Shipping and Receiving center will observe the following schedule over the winter break:
· Tuesday, Dec. 23: Regular hours
· Wednesday, Dec. 24 - Thursday, Dec. 25: Closed
· Friday, Dec. 26, Monday, Dec. 29 & Tuesday, Dec. 30: Shortened hours/receive from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. – next day and perishable deliveries only
· Wednesday, Dec. 31 - Thursday, Jan. 1: Closed
· Friday, Jan. 2: Regular hours
Perishable products should be ordered and received on or before Dec. 23 so they can be delivered before the campus closure. We encourage all campus departments and suppliers to plan accordingly for shipments, deliveries, and time-sensitive materials. Accounts Payable
Friday, Dec. 19 is the last day Accounts Payable will process payments for the 2025 calendar year.
· Invoices, payment requests, and wire transfer requests must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12.
· Approved invoices with a due date on or before Wednesday, Dec. 31 will be paid.
· All payment requests and wire transfers must include required documentation and approvals.
· Items submitted after Friday, Dec. 12 will be processed when AP returns in January 2026.

Travel and Expense Management
Travel and expense reports must be submitted by Monday, Dec. 15 to ensure payment is processed before the campus curtailment period.
Please keep in mind that expense reports must complete the full approval workflow, including manager approval and UCM audit before payment can be issued. Any delays in approval or missing information may result in payments being processed after curtailment.
To avoid disruptions:
· Ensure all information requested in your ServiceNow ticket is provided, including agendas and a detailed business justification.
· Respond promptly to any requests for clarification, additional information, or corrections.
· Monitor your Concur and ServiceNow activity closely, as you will be notified when your expense report is ready for submission.

Human Resources
Human Resources will be closed for the duration of the winter break. If you have an urgent HR issue that cannot wait until Jan. 2, please contact Interim Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Human Resources Officer, Fabiola Elizalde at 209-201-7059.
Occupational Health
Occupational Health will close to patient appointments beginning Dec. 22 (last day for patient appointments will be Dec. 19) and will reopen on Monday, Jan. 5.

Fork in the Road mobile concession:
· Closed Friday, Dec. 12 - Monday, Feb. 2.
· Reopens Tuesday, Feb. 3.
The Summits Marketplace:
· Closed Saturday, Dec. 20 - Wednesday, Jan. 14.
· Reopens Thursday, Jan. 15.
The Bobcat Snack Stop:

Student Health Services and CAPS will close to patient appointments beginning Dec. 22 (last day for patient appointments will be Dec. 19) and will reopen on Monday, Jan. 5.
Students may call the Health Center at 209-228-2273 during this closure, if they wish to speak to an advice nurse or a mental health clinician. If it is an emergency, call 911 or campus police at 209-228-2677 (CAT-COPS). The Library will be closed Dec. 20 through Jan. 11.
Winter Intersession hours will be:
· Jan. 12-16: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
· Closed weekends & Monday, Jan. 19 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Regular semester hours will resume Jan. 20.
Library staff will be available Jan. 5 - 9 for InterLibrary Loan (ILL) pickups, but the last delivery date before the break will be Friday, Dec. 19. ILL will send out information to patrons informing them about in-person pick-ups in the Lantern.
