Hello all,
UCI Libraries has recently received demos of the TheirStory.io platform from the founder, Zack Ellis. I was impressed with the simplicity of the platform and that it’s quickly being developed to handle oral history in various languages using Google translate API in the backend. There’s also the option to have content preserved long term automatically via permanent.org<http://permanent.org>. I think this may be useful for special collections oral history work, for the one-off projects with community groups, students using oral history methods in their research, or by faculty who teach public history/memory courses and use oral history in their course design (especially popular with Ethnic Studies). There might be interest in this platform within the dh CKG because it provides seamless preservation-quality infrastructure. I know that UC Merced has a subscription through their Music dept. already.
I am including Zack Ellis’s email here in case the platform is of interest: zack at theirstory.io<mailto:zack at theirstory.io>
Thanks,
