[Cse-lecturers] Summer 2021 teaching

Hi All,

I have an update with regard to the instruction modality for Summer classes. We now have the flexibility to choose between online, hybrid, or in person, though the last option depends on the pandemic situation improving, and the availability of adequate instructional spaces to ensure social distancing.

My suggestion would be to go fully online (see below), but if you strongly feel the other way, please let me know.

Let me recap the courses that could be offered (there have been some updates). Please be reminded that summer offerings are contingent on sufficient enrollment. To this end, remote instruction is probably conducive to more registrations.

- one-two upper division courses (e.g., CSE165, CSE140 Computer Architectures, CSE150 Operating Systems).
- Possibly CSE024

If any of you is interested in teaching one of these, please let me know as soon as possible.  For ladder rank faculty this compensation would be on top of the regular 9-month salary, while for lecturers compensation is established by the union’s contract.

Given the current uncertainties related to the pandemic, it is currently unknown whether these will be offered in person or remotely.
