Gabrielle Hayes of BlueWave will talk about

“Agrivoltaics in Action: An IPP’s Perspective”

Abstract: BlueWave is an Independent Power Producer and a Public Benefit Corporation that works at the forefront of responsible solar and storage development. BlueWave has been a leader in agrivoltaics, developing some of the first agrivoltaic arrays in the country and contributing to agrivoltaic policy design and tools in states including Massachusetts and New York. This presentation will share opportunities and challenges in designing, permitting, constructing, and operating agrivoltaic arrays from the perspective of an IPP. BlueWave currently owns four agrivoltaic arrays in Massachusetts that feature cattle grazing, hay production, and vegetable production.

Bio: Gabrielle Hayes is an Associate of Sustainable Solar Development at BlueWave. In her role, she is involved in the entire lifecycle of agrivoltaic arrays, from the first conversations with landowners & farmers, through permitting, construction, and the operational phase. She also collaborates with BlueWave’s policy team on advancing agrivoltaics policy at the local, state and federal levels, and contributes to setting strategy for dual-use solar in new markets. Prior to joining BlueWave, she obtained a Master’s in Public Administration focused on Sustainable Development from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. She also completed a year-long farmer training program at The Farm School, in Athol, Massachusetts, and worked as an urban farmer in New York City for six years.
