[Ucwsfiscal] Work-Study Award Sending and Balance Calculation Discussion

Hello again.

FYI – we just came out of the meeting with UCPC IT team. 2 decisions were tentatively made: 1) we got favorite votes from Berkeley, Davis, San Diego, LA, Merced that we’d like to allow WS balance go to negative amount when WS award amount was reduced to below student’s WS earnings. UCPC IT will review all impacted programs and test to see if there’s any issue. Irvine/SC/Riverside/SB/SF colleagues, if you have any concerns with this new approach, please share with me or directly with UCPC immediately; 2) we generally agreed to use different “effective date” when we send updated WS award (upward or downward). UCPC and schools who had tested this method assured us that the “effective date” functions as a transaction date and does not create issues when we try to apply/remove WS before the new “effective date”. I didn’t ask how soon we should implement that but Davis won’t be able to make this change till 23/24 the earliest.

UCPC will ask their manager for approval to create a user group with us financial aid folks and meet monthly to continue working on UCPath WS issues. Hello all.

Hope this email finds everyone well. You may remember the conversation from our last meeting that we’d like to collaborate as a group to work with UCPath Center when it comes to UCPath SCT redesign, I159 and balance calculation.

I was finally able to start conversation with John Eberhardt (I believe he’s lead IT Developer for UCPC) and he’s now willing to consider a recommendation Berkeley and Davis put through JIRA 125597<https://tntjira.ucop.edu/browse/UCP-125597>. They are meeting this coming Tuesday, 4/25 and I asked to join. If they include us, I’ll forward the meeting to this group. If you are interested, please read the JIRA ticket for background information. I feel there’re more about work-study issues they are working on but right now we are focusing on if we can allow balance to go negative and if we can avoid using a different effective date when we send in updates (up or downward adjustment).
